About Alison

My whole career has centred on children, families and special needs through various roles in special schools, residential care, social work and specialist nannying. I have over ten years experience in supporting children with disabilities and I have always enjoyed helping young people to achieve their goals. I am passionate about disabled children being able to access the same opportunities as their peers, and embrace positive risk taking.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with Health Studies from Bath Spa University and a Masters in Social Work from the University of Hertfordshire. I have good knowledge of key legislation including the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice. This combined with my practical experience of supporting children with various disabilities in education and at home means I have a good understanding of the challenges families can face.

I started consulting because I want to use my knowledge and networks to reduce some of the stress on parents and carers who simply want the best for their child. I want to empower families with better understanding and support them to move forward as smoothly as possible.
